Extension of the existing club house and creation of padel courts at Harrogate Rugby Club.
About Harrogate Rugby Club
Founded in 1871, Harrogate Rugby Club is a registered charity with a long-standing presence in the local community. The Club provides opportunities to play rugby across senior, women’s and junior teams.
In addition to its sporting activities, the Club hosts a variety of community events, including the Harrogate RUFC Beer Festival and Family Fun Day.
The Future of Harrogate Rugby Club
Harrogate Rugby Club wants to continue providing a place for its members and the wider community to enjoy sport and come together.
The charitable objectives of the rugby club are “promotion of community participation in healthy recreation for the public benefit in Harrogate and surrounding area through the provision of facilities to enable participation in the sport of amateur rugby union football”.
The padel courts and clubhouse extension will offer an integrated range of facilities for both members and the local community to help sustain the long term financial viability for the club including meeting the aims of its charitable objectives as well as allowing it to continue operating as a valued community facility.
About this Website
This website has been produced on behalf of Harrogate Rugby Club as part of a public consultation which sets out the detailed design for an extension to the existing clubhouse and creation of new padel courts.
The proposed scheme will provide an extension to the existing rugby club clubhouse and four new padel courts, delivering improved sporting and recreational facilities for club members and the wider community.
We have already undertaken an initial discussion with North Yorkshire Council. Following these discussions, the scheme has been revised and we are now ready to present the emerging proposals to local residents and the wider community for comments.
Prior to the submission of the planning application we are keen to hear your views on the proposals.
We would therefore really appreciate if you would review the emerging proposals and comment using the ‘Have Your Say’ tab located at the top of the screen.
Your comments will be used to help inform the final proposals. Please note that the deadline for comments is Friday 23rd October.
Attend our public consultation event
In addition to viewing the proposals on this website, you can attend our in-person public consultation event. This will provide an opportunity to view the plans, discuss the proposals with members of the project team, ask questions and provide your comments.

Time: 3pm to 7pm
Location: Harrogate Rugby Club, Rudding Lane, Harrogate, HG3 1DQ
